Retirology for AI apps
Plan by chatting. Retirology connects to Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini and other AI apps that support custom connectors (MCP), so your AI app can set up your plan with you, answer questions about it and build the year-by-year spreadsheet. Every number comes from the same planning engine as the desktop app: federal and state tax, ACA subsidies, Medicare IRMAA, penalties, Roth conversions and Social Security, worked out year by year. Your AI app doesn't estimate them itself.
It's a beta: free to join while we find out whether planning by chat is useful enough to keep. Beta access lasts three months from the day you join. If it proves useful, the full version launches in January 2027.
What it can do
- Guided setup: your AI app asks about your household, accounts, income, Social Security, spending, healthcare, FI target, taxes and strategy, a few questions at a time. Or bring your plan over from the desktop app (Settings → Data → Export).
- Questions about your plan: when you could retire, whether the money lasts, Roth conversions under the ACA cliff, Social Security claiming ages, moving states, Monte Carlo and historical stress tests.
- Budget: read off your pay stub and expenses line by line for your savings rate and cash flow.
- Balance updates: paste new balances (or let another connected tool read them). Retirology shows every change and applies nothing until you confirm.
- Files: the year-by-year table as an Excel spreadsheet, and your plan as a file to bring back next time.
How joining works
- Join: click “Join the beta” and enter your email. There's nothing to pay.
- Get your address: your confirmation email has your access code. Paste it into the connect page to get your personal connector address, https://mcp.retirology.app/k/<your access code>/mcp.
- Connect: add that address as a custom connector in your AI app. In Claude, that's under Settings → Connectors. ChatGPT, Gemini and other apps that support custom MCP connectors take the same address.
- Start: open a new chat and say: “Help me set up my retirement plan with Retirology.”
The address contains your access code, so keep it to yourself. Questions or feedback: contact@retirology.app. Every note helps decide what the full version becomes.
Good first questions
- “If we retire at 50, how much can we convert to Roth each year before 65 and still keep ACA subsidies?”
- “What if 2008 happened the year we retire?”
- “Show claiming Social Security at 62, 67 and 70 side by side.”
- “What's the lifetime tax difference if we retire in Arizona instead of California?”
- “What happens to our taxes and income after one of us dies?”
- “Make me the year-by-year spreadsheet.”
Retirology is an educational tool. It shows what the model projects under the stated assumptions and what each choice changes; it doesn't tell you what to do. Nothing it produces is financial, tax or legal advice.
Planned for the full version (January 2027)
If the beta shows people find it useful, the full version is planned for January 2027 with:
- Sign-in instead of a code in the address. You connect with your account, as with any other app.
- Saved plans. Pick up your plan in any new conversation without attaching a file. Stored encrypted, and deletable by you at any time.
- One-click setup. We're aiming for listings in the Claude and ChatGPT app directories, so there's no address to copy.
- Charts and cards in the chat, drawn from Retirology's numbers.
- Its own privacy policy and terms, reviewed before launch.
Pricing for the full version will be announced before launch, and beta testers hear first. The desktop app stays buy once, with every update free. Beta access ends three months after you join, whatever happens next.
Privacy during the beta
The desktop app's privacy statement doesn't change: it still sends nothing about you anywhere. The AI version works differently, because the calculations run on our server. Here is everything it involves.
What our server receives
When your AI app calls Retirology, it sends the plan details you've given it: household, accounts and balances, income, spending and the rest. The server computes the results and sends them back.
- No database. Plans are never written to disk or stored after you're done.
- Memory only. A plan is held in the server's memory for up to 24 hours after its last use, so your AI app can refer to it without resending it. A restart clears it sooner.
- Spreadsheets and plan files are held in memory for one hour behind a link nobody can guess, then deleted.
- Between conversations, nothing is kept. To continue in a new chat, save the plan file and attach it.
Usage records
To learn whether testers come back, the server records one line per request: which tool ran (for example “plan summary”), when, and a one-way fingerprint of your access code. It never records your plan, your numbers or what you type. These lines are kept for up to 30 days.
Hosting
The server runs on Google Cloud in the United States. Google's standard request logs record each request's address, which contains your access code, along with your AI app's network address and software name. They're kept for 30 days, and only we can see them.
Your AI app
Your conversation itself is handled by your AI app's provider (for example Anthropic, OpenAI or Google) under their privacy policy. Retirology sees only what the AI app sends to its tools.
Your access code
Your access code is a license key issued through Lemon Squeezy, our payments processor, which holds the email address you joined with. The server checks your code with Lemon Squeezy's license service (sending only the code) and remembers the answer for an hour. To stop, remove the connector. To have your usage records deleted, email contact@retirology.app.
